Austin Texas Coaching Resources

Your Personal Coaching Resources as a Life Coach in Austin TX

Coaching Resources for Austin Texas Insight from David Cantu:  I’ve had dozens of teachers and authors who have profoundly influenced my life.  My daughter, Courtney, was the first person to open my heart to love. My mother, Grace, modeled for me determination and a giving heart. My mentor, Bill Reidler, helped me to learn humility and taught me how to influence people both consciously and effectively. Laura Lee helped me to love myself and to have compassion for all people. My clients all have helped me to be accountable; it’s impossible to be a good teacher if one doesn’t walk the talk.

Career

The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron: For the artist in all of us; the author guides us through a “spiritual path to creativity.” This can be your opportunity to unleash your full creative potential.

Health

Breathing: The Masterkey to Self Healing CD by Andrew Weil If you are new to breath work or have not incorporated it into your daily living, this information can help you immensely at both a physical and spiritual level.

Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman:
Mr. Goleman shows how factors such as self-awareness and empathy add up to a different way of being smart. It’s not all about IQ but about “emotional intelligence.” The good news: Emotional intelligence isn’t fixed at birth, it can be nurtured and strengthened throughout adulthood.

Food and Healing by Annemarie Colbin:
A theory book on the dynamics of the effects of food on health, using both Western and Eastern concepts. Most useful for anyone who is confused by conflicting dietary opinions and recommendations; it helps people make their own dietary choices according to their needs.

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay:
This is a book that can change your life. It includes a reference guide to probable mental patterns behind disease. Some points of her philosophy: We must release the past and forgive everyone; we must be willing to learn to love ourselves.

How to Live a Fulfilled Live

Conscious Living by Gay Hendricks: Are you ready to steer through your life with conscious intent? Conscious Living and its sensible advice can help!

Marianne Williamson on Love, Spirituality, etc. …– audio tapes:
She is a dynamic and engaging speaker, I recommend any of her audio tapes.

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle:
It’s been several years since I read The Power of Now. It inspired me, and I recommended it to many clients, who were similarly moved. Tolle’s message is simplicity itself: Live fully in the present. This can be a great guide to your evolution.

A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson:
If I had a choice of only one word to describe A Return to Love I would choose “truth.” From the first sentences of her introduction, “When we were born, we were programmed perfectly. We had a natural tendency to focus on love.” to the last poem, you will find truth.

Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukov:
An excellent treatment on thought, responsibility, evolution and reincarnation.

Inspiration

Gandhi the Man by Eknath Easwaran: Gandhi’s life is one of the most inspiring stories of human transformation in the history of humanity. This book captures the imagination and encourages us that we, too, can change the world through the power of love.

Return from Tomorrow by George Ritchie:
Ritchie’s near-death experience altered his view of eternity and has since directed and governed his entire life. This is a story of hope and an inspiring call to loving action. Return from Tomorrow can change your life for the better!

The Way of a Pilgrim Anonymous Author
: This is a simple story with a simple, yet profound idea: Unceasing prayer. The prayer, also known as the Jesus Prayer, is as follows, “Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me.” The book details the spiritual development and struggles of the narrator.

Parenting

Redirecting Children’s Behavior by Kathryn Kvols: This is parenting advice at its best.

Relationships

Getting to “I Do” by Dr. Patricia Allen and Sandra Harmon: I once suggested to a client that she immediately burn a book by an author who sounded much like Patricia Allen. Times have changed, I now see great wisdom, a pragmatic approach to relationships and lucid simplicity in her advice. Read this book!

Religion

A Walk with Four Spiritual Guides by Andrew Harvey: I enjoyed very much reading Harvey’s connection with and interpretations of the messages of Jesus, Krishna, Buddha and Ramakrishna.

The World’s Religions by Huston Smith:
Huston elegantly and convincingly conveys the spirit and appeal of the world’s religions. Read this book and make it a part of your library.

Spirituality

Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss The title is perfect; the author does an excellent job of superimposing our spiritual anatomy over our physical, emotional and psychological anatomy. Note – My own article, “Seven Stages of Power” (go to articles page), draws liberally from her wisdom.

Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda
His message is profound; this is a timeless spiritual classic.

A Course in Miracles
This isn’t really a book. It’s a guide that teaches the truth of one’s own nature, of life, of love and of God. I strongly encourage anyone to undertake and practice the year-long workbook.

Freedom and Resolve by Gangaji
This is a tiny volume loaded with wisdom.

How to Know God by Deepak Chopra
I think a more appropriate title would be “All the Ways We Know God” with a subtitle “And the Ways We Hide from God.” Here I found inspiring insights about how we see God.

Invitation to Love by Thomas Keating

Jnana Yoga by Swami Vivekananda
This is one of the most powerful books I’ve ever read. Vivekananda plumbs the depths of our spiritual nature with great wisdom and clarity.

Power vs. Force by David Hawkins
“Man thinks he lives by virtue of the forces he can control; but in fact, he’s governed by power from unrevealed sources, power over which he has no control.” ~ from the introduction. This book is an excellent spiritual and scientific guide to consciousness.
